Nama Water Services Awards Contract for Wadi Dayqah Dam Water Purification Plant
Oman-based Nama Water Services has officially signed an agreement with Al Tayer Engineering Services Company to develop a state-of-the-art water purification plant at Wadi Dayqah Dam, located in the Qurayyat region. This project also includes associated infrastructure enhancements to bolster water security and ensure a stable supply of potable water across the region.

Project Overview
The plant will be established under a 20-year public-private partnership (PPP) contract, with construction expected to be completed within two years. The initiative aligns with the Omani government’s long-term strategy to enhance water security and cater to the increasing demand for clean water, particularly during unforeseen emergencies and extreme weather conditions.
Investment & Strategic Importance:
With a total investment of $142 million, the water purification facility will be developed under a build, own, operate (BOO) model. The project’s agreement was signed by Qais Saud Al Zakwani, CEO of Nama Water Services, and Sultan Abdullah Al Jafari, Chairman of Al Tayer Engineering Services Company, in the presence of Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources.
Leadership Insights:
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Qais Saud Al Zakwani emphasized the company's commitment to achieving national water security objectives. He stated:
“Nama Water Services is dedicated to addressing the growing demand for water driven by increasing subscribers and urban expansion. This new purification plant at Wadi Dayqah Dam is a key initiative within our broader strategy to optimize water resources and meet future needs efficiently.”
He further highlighted that the project is in line with Oman Vision 2040, ensuring a balanced approach to current and future water demands.
Production Capacity & Water Distribution:
The new Wadi Dayqah Dam purification plant will have a total production capacity of 65,000 cubic meters per day.
- 35,000 cubic meters per day will be integrated into Nama Water Services’ main distribution network to provide clean drinking water to residents.
- 30,000 cubic meters per day will be allocated for agricultural irrigation, supporting farms in the Qurayyat region in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources.
