JinkoSolar to Supply 1.75GW of TOPCon Modules for Desert PV Projects in Saudi Arabia

JinkoSolar to Supply 1.75GW of TOPCon Modules for Desert PV Projects in Saudi Arabia

JinkoSolar, a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) technology, has announced a major supply deal to deliver 1.75 gigawatts (GW) of its advanced N-type TOPCon modules for two large-scale solar power projects in Saudi Arabia. The projects—AHK2 (500MW) and MAS (1,250MW)—are being developed by EDF Renewables and SPIC Huanghe Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., under Saudi Arabia’s Fifth Round Renewable Energy Program. The engineering and construction responsibilities are managed by PowerChina Guizhou Engineering Corporation.

This milestone reinforces JinkoSolar’s growing presence in the Middle East and highlights the company's commitment to accelerating clean energy deployment through cutting-edge solar innovations.

A Continuation of Regional Success

This agreement follows JinkoSolar’s previous 1.8GW project for the PV3 Al Ajban solar park in Abu Dhabi, marking the company's second significant collaboration with EDF Renewables. These ongoing partnerships demonstrate the confidence that major energy players have in JinkoSolar’s high-performance PV technologies and their suitability for the challenging desert environments of the Middle East.

Strategic Projects Supporting Saudi Vision 2030

Both the AHK2 and MAS projects are located in environmentally sensitive desert regions—Al Henakiyah in Medina Province and Dharghat in Ha’il Province. These areas face extreme climate conditions, including:

  • High solar irradiance

  • Blistering temperatures

  • Frequent sandstorms

  • Dry, desert-prone terrain

As part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), these projects are not only designed to supply clean energy but also to aid in desert restoration and climate resilience.

Why JinkoSolar’s N-Type TOPCon Technology Stands Out

The developers chose JinkoSolar’s Tiger Neo N-type TOPCon bifacial modules after a rigorous evaluation process. These modules are specially engineered for durability and efficiency in harsh desert conditions. Key benefits include:

  • Low Degradation Rate: Ensures long-term high energy output

  • Superior Heat Performance: Low temperature coefficient for stable output in extreme heat

  • High Bifaciality (up to 85%): Captures reflected light from the ground, increasing energy yield

  • UV and Wind Resistance: Ideal for intense sun and high wind conditions

  • Hail and Sandstorm Durability: Built to endure harsh environmental factors

  • Dust and Sand Protection: Maintains peak performance in arid climates

These features help the modules perform consistently under the extreme temperature swings and environmental stresses typical of Saudi Arabia’s desert landscape.

Boosting Clean Power and Supporting Desert Restoration

JinkoSolar’s technology isn’t just delivering clean electricity—it’s also helping the environment in other powerful ways. Once operational, the projects are expected to:

  • Increase total energy output by 3.38% thanks to the high bifacial design, with even higher gains in reflective desert terrain

  • Create beneficial microclimates by lowering ground temperatures and retaining more moisture in the soil

  • Support vegetation regrowth and reduce desertification—helping rehabilitate degraded desert lands

This unique combination of clean energy production and environmental regeneration offers a model for future sustainable development across the Middle East and beyond.

Commitment to Innovation and Global Partnerships

JinkoSolar continues to lead the solar industry through relentless innovation and quality-focused development. The company remains dedicated to:

  • Delivering high-efficiency solar products

  • Driving cost-effective, scalable clean energy solutions

  • Forming strategic global partnerships

  • Supporting decarbonization and energy transition goals

With this latest achievement, JinkoSolar strengthens its role as a trusted global partner in the renewable energy landscape and reaffirms its contribution to the Middle East’s growing solar revolution.
