Miahona Secures SAR 1 Billion Contract for Wastewater Treatment Project in Jeddah’s 1st Industrial City |
The long-term 25-year agreement was awarded by the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (Modon), underlining the Kingdom's commitment to partnering with private sector pioneers to elevate infrastructure and environmental management standards.
Comprehensive Wastewater Solution Under ROT Model
The scope of the project is extensive and will be executed under the Rehabilitation, Operation, and Transfer (ROT) model. This strategic framework entrusts Miahona with the rehabilitation, development, construction, operation, and maintenance of industrial wastewater systems in the region.
The ROT model ensures that Miahona will not only upgrade and operate existing systems but also invest capital, utilize the land effectively, and deliver reliable wastewater services. Additionally, the company will generate revenue through the sale of treated water, which will be repurposed for industrial applications—further aligning with Saudi Arabia’s sustainability objectives and water reuse strategies.
Ensuring Sustainability and Public Service Excellence
Miahona’s mandate includes the treatment of raw wastewater and industrial effluents in strict compliance with a structured Service Agreement (SA). This ensures that all operations meet high environmental and efficiency standards. Moreover, the company will be responsible for the marketing and distribution of treated water, offering industrial customers a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to freshwater.
Through this project, Miahona aims to guarantee the continuity, quality, and reliability of public services related to industrial wastewater treatment in the Jeddah Industrial City area.
A Strategic Win for Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030
This project reflects a larger national movement towards enhanced environmental stewardship, industrial growth, and private sector participation, all key pillars of Saudi Vision 2030. By awarding this significant contract to Miahona, Modon reinforces its dedication to improving infrastructure and promoting sustainable water management across the Kingdom’s industrial hubs.
The partnership also highlights Miahona’s growing influence and technical capability in the sector, solidifying its role as a trusted leader in the Kingdom’s ongoing transformation towards smart and sustainable industrial ecosystems.
