A specialized
wind turbine manufacturing facility is being planned in Duqm’s Special Economic
Zone (SEZD) by Mawarid Turbine Company, marking a regional first and a major
step toward Oman’s clean energy transition. The plant is expected to begin
commercial operations in 2026, with turbines of 6.25 MW and 9.6 MW capacity to
be produced and an annual output of 1,000 MW. A $200 million investment has
been allocated for the first phase, and approximately 1,080 jobs are
anticipated to be created. Strategic agreements were signed with Chinese and
local partners, and Omanis are being trained to support the localization of
renewable energy technology.
