In a major step toward strengthening Sharjah's energy infrastructure, the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (Sewa) successfully executed 19 strategic projects in 2024 aimed at improving energy transmission, enhancing network efficiency, and ensuring grid stability across the emirate.
Key projects included the launch of a 220kV station at Al Tay, the development of 33/11 kV units at Al Jadah, Souq Haraj, and Al Madina, and significant upgrades at major substations like Wasit, Al-Shanouf, and Al-Ghubayba. Sewa also rolled out GIS partial discharge detection systems at the Sports Centre and Al-Liyah 132kV Station, boosting the reliability and safety of the electrical system.
To align with sustainable development goals, overhead power lines in Al-Ma'ahid, Al-Hoshi, and Al-Tay were lowered to support the ambitious Union Train project. Additionally, the completion of an advanced electrical connection system at Al Hawel Emirates demonstrates Sewa’s ongoing commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies for improved electrical protection and system performance.
According to Sewa officials, these projects not only serve current needs but are part of a long-term strategy to build a robust, efficient, and future-ready power grid that supports Sharjah’s growth and sustainable development vision.
