The contract will see 65 engineering and project management experts from Wood embedded within PDO’s Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) office, focusing on complex energy transition and carbon capture initiatives. This collaboration marks another milestone in Wood’s efforts to drive innovation and sustainability across the energy value chain in the Middle East.
Empowering Omani Talent in Engineering Excellence
A key highlight of this partnership is Wood’s commitment to local workforce development. The team deployed under this contract will primarily consist of Omani nationals, reflecting Wood’s strategy to invest in capacity building and skills enhancement within the local community.
“Empowering national talent remains a core pillar of our operations in Oman,” stated Wood, emphasizing its dedication to creating sustainable job opportunities and transferring global expertise to local professionals.
Global Expertise, Local Impact
While the core team will be based in Oman, they will be supported by Wood’s global network of technical experts, ensuring access to cutting-edge solutions and best practices from across the world. Together, the integrated team will deliver feasibility studies, pre-FEED, and full FEED services, covering every stage of the oil production lifecycle.
A Strong Commitment to the Region
Gerry Traynor, President of Eastern Hemisphere Projects at Wood, commented on the new collaboration:
“Our contract with PDO reinforces our promise of high-quality, dependable delivery for our clients as they pursue vital project investments. Our decades of experience in the region, coupled with our expanding portfolio, unlock exciting opportunities for our teams to support forward-thinking energy leaders like PDO in building a secure and sustainable energy future.”
Continued Growth Across the Middle East
This strategic win adds to Wood’s growing momentum in the region. In fact, the company recently celebrated $920 million worth of contract awards across the Middle East in 2024 alone, a strong testament to its reputation and capabilities in delivering engineering excellence for critical infrastructure and energy projects.
As the energy sector undergoes a profound transformation, partnerships like this between Wood and PDO are setting the standard for future-ready solutions in carbon capture, emissions reduction, and energy efficiency.
